Purple Rain

Project Description

The brief for this bike was that it needed to be something that could be used as training bike over winter but something that could also be used for the odd bit of racing. No mean feat but something I relished the challenged of. The tubing chosen was a mix of Columbus Zona and Life with a Reynolds headtube.  All cabling is external for easy maintenance over winter. No mudguard mount but plenty of room for race blades or Crud Road Racers.

A slightly more traditional style with all main tubes being rounds and not hugely over sized. 27.2 seat post helped keep the comfort in and weight down. Tapered Deda fork serves up a significant increase in stability. The wheelset was built by our friends at August Bikeworks and are their own rims laced to the excellent Hope mono road hubs. They feature a ceramic coating to the brake track which maintains the black finish for thousands of mile and certainly look killer, especially next to the deep plum colour of the bike.

Groupset was the tried and test Campagnolo Athena, Carbon shifters and chainset along with crisp shifting are always a winner. The finishing kit is one of our favourites too, fi’zi:k bars, stem and seat post and bar tape are beautifully subtle and add finishing touch.

A simple but none the less classy paint job on this one, should certainly brighten up a dull winters ride.
